Tickets selling fast for Southampton Dash in the Dark

More than 500 tickets have been sold for Dash in the Dark.

Tickets are selling fast for the 5km night-time fun run held on Southampton Common on Saturday 23 September.

The life-saving charity is making a final call for participants of all ages to light up the night with their brightest clothes, funkiest fancy dress, neon face-paints and fluorescent glow-sticks to help the most critically ill and seriously injured people in the region.

Saving lives with your support

Jenny Hutton will be taking part as a way of saying thank you to the crew for saving her son’s life when he fractured his skull in 2019.

While Oscar has been left navigating several challenges due to the injury to his brain, Jenny recognises that without the care he received, “Oscar may well not be here today.”

Oscar was seriously ill and needed urgent critical care.

Jenny said:

“Until I needed to use the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, I really had no idea about them. I now do all I can to fundraise for them – carrying on the fundraising of my late husband and Oscar’s Dad, Mathew Hutton, who sadly passed away in August 2022. Mathew volunteered for the air ambulance charity and always helped at Dash in The Dark. This will be our third time going, and I am proud and honoured to have been asked to lead the charity run.”

Keith Wilson, Director of Income and Engagement, said:

“It is only thanks to our dedicated wave of supporters from events such as Dash in the Dark that we can be there for those who need our help. Seven days a week, 365 days a year. A huge thank you to everyone who continues to champion this event and our charity, helping us save lives every day.”

Check in on the night will open at 6pm with the 5km dash beginning at 7.15pm, as darkness falls. The route is softly lit and paved throughout, though head torches are essential. All participants will receive a free Dash in the Dark T-shirt and a glow in the dark medal at the finish line.

Adult tickets cost £20 and children (5-15 years) £16. Every penny raised goes towards keeping the air ambulance charity on the front line and saving lives.

Tickets can be purchased via the website.
