Welcoming our new Chair

Introducing our new Chair, Becca Brackwell-Slade.

Having served as a valued member of our Board of Trustees since 2021, Becca Brackwell-Slade now takes the reins from our outgoing Chair, Cllr David Drew, who stepped down after eight years of dedicated service.

Becca was inspired to join our Board as a volunteer when her partner was rescued by the service after being involved in an accident on the South Downs in September 2020.

Becca began her career in the Army, completing multiple operational tours before transitioning into the professional services sector. Today, she leads operations at a local engineering company that’s driving forward innovative technology – skills and leadership she now brings to our cause.

“I’ve been a long-time supporter of the charity,” said Becca.

“Not only was I immediately grateful that we were there for my family when we needed help, but it also sparked a genuine interest in understanding more about our service, our people, and how we operate. I jumped at the chance to join the Board in 2021.”

She added: “There are so many exciting areas to get involved in, but one I’m especially proud of is the development of our new airbase. It will be a huge step forward, allowing us to respond even faster and help more people when every second counts.”

“Being Chair of this charity is a privilege. It’s about supporting everyone in our team, led by the CEO and Exec to deliver our mission to ensure ‘we always bring exceptional critical care to people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight’.”

Richard Corbett, our CEO, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to David for his help and support during his tenure on the Board and as Chair. He has provided guidance and assurance throughout the stages of our airbase relocation project, Operation Airbase, and we’re determined to continue developing under Becca’s stewardship, to allow us to be there for more patients than ever before.”
