You don’t have to wear a flight suit or fly a helicopter to help save lives in your region.
In May, 170 supporters from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight took on Miles for Missions – all to raise vital funds for your life-saving service.
The mission: to complete 100 miles in one month – be it walking, running, skipping or cycling – to ensure our Critical Care Team can provide advanced pre-hospital care to those who need us most.
With more than 12,000 miles covered, determined teams including Astute People, Griffon Marine, Barnbrook Systems, HBI Laleham, Lewis Brownlee Chartered Accountants, Solent Cellar, Far Logistics, Accelerator and Menzies raised more than £14,300 – enough to fund four emergency missions.
A life-saving difference
Last month, our crew responded to 199 missions across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight – 133 by air and 66 by road in our emergency response vehicles.

A step closer to our new home
In September, we launched the biggest fundraising appeal in our charity’s history, Operation Airbase, with the mission to relocate our Airbase to a site near to Southampton Airport.
By centralising our service, we will be able to improve response times to the majority of our calls – meaning our crew can reach almost every patient in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight within 10 minutes of take-off.
Thanks to the dedication of our supporters taking on this 100 mile challenge, we are one step closer to our new home.
Nicole Davies, Events Fundraiser at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, said:
“Miles for Missions was an incredible success for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Not only did it bring our community together with a shared purpose, but it also raised funds and awareness for our life-saving service. We’re so grateful to everyone who laced up their shoes and went the extra mile to support our mission.”
