Super cyclists complete sensational challenge

Have you ever wanted to take on an extreme fundraising challenge for charity but aren’t sure where to start? The team from The Champion Group did just that, as they braved the elements on their mammoth cycle challenge.

On August 18, a team of six cyclists – Jon Bird, Adam Chandler, Ian Dobson, Lionel Eales, Simon Hall and Dan Hare – pedalled through torrential rain as they took on a 150-mile plus route from Champion House headquarters to Portsmouth, cycling across a wet and windy Isle of Wight, before returning to Lymington for the trek home to the finish line at Basingstoke Rugby Club, in Pack Lane.

A highlight of their epic ride was a stop off at our Airbase in Thruxton, where the riders and support crews were greeted by some of our team.

The fundraising total, with gift aid, from the ride alone currently stands at an incredible £11,634. And there is still time to donate.

The Champion Group, based in Basingstoke, has chosen to support us as its charity of the year, raising an additional £3,793 at a Charity Golf Day in June.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported the team.

Feeling inspired? You can take on your very own challenge and support your local Air Ambulance – it doesn’t have to be a 154-mile cycle in the rain!
