Local Spar staff fundraise for air ambulance

Staff across Spar stores in Portsmouth have been on a fundraising mission to support the air ambulance service close to their hearts.

Staff were inspired to raise money for the charity when Spar manager, Helen Mclaren, required emergency treatment from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance last Christmas.

On Saturday 10 June, Helen and her colleagues hosted a Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams tribute night, raising money through ticket sales and raffle prizes.

And, just four days later, Helen’s daughter, Indya Rose, and her colleagues walked a staggering 38 miles in scorching 27 degree heat, as they visited the 24 Spar stores in their patch.

A group of people stood outside a Spar shop holding balloons and charity collection pots.

The group walked from 6am – 6pm

Indya said:

“Words can’t describe how grateful we are for the services of the Air Ambulance which saved my mum’s life. And to now see my store managers, the company and the community all come together to show their support for the charity is such an incredible feeling.

Support your air ambulance today and help us be there for patients like Helen in future.
