The New Forest District Council has raised more than £14,000 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Across 12 months of fundraising – including raffles and plant selling – the local council, based in Lyndhurst and led by Chairman, Councillor David Hawkins, has helped to raise vital funds for their air ambulance.
Councillor Hawkins, said:
“It was an honour to support the Air Ambulance charity during my year in office as chairman of New Forest District Council.
“I chose it because of the vital role it plays in delivering urgent life-saving care to people of all ages wherever and whenever it’s needed most”
Our community keep us flying
In 2024, our Critical Care Team responded to 2,544 missions across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight – 146 of which were to critically ill or injured patients in the New Forest. As a charity, we rely on the support of those in our community to keep us flying and saving lives.
Thanks to the dedication of the New Forest District Council, we can be there for patients like Elliott and his family.
In June 2021, Elliott, from the New Forest, collapsed at home whilst training on his static exercise bike. Our crew responded rapidly, ventilating Elliott to take over his breathing, before travelling with him to hospital.

Emma Stileman, Supporter Engagement Officer at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, said:
“It was amazing to have the support of the New Forest District Council this year and see their commitment for seeing our service continuing to support the New Forest community.”
