Fund-Raise a toast to the happy couple

Becky and Tim have been together since 2017, when they were working for their respective patient transport services. When the pair decided to tie the knot in May this year, they asked for donations in lieu of wedding gifts, raising almost £700 for your Air Ambulance.

Emergency Care Assistants (ECA) Becky and Tim are familiar with the sight of the Air Ambulance coming in to land, having worked alongside our crews on incidents across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

ECA’s carry out vital pre-hospital work as part of a two-person team with their paramedic and technician colleagues, taking sets of observations (blood pressure, heart rate and temperature) and assisting their colleagues with any number of tasks.

Before the wedding, the pair set up a JustGiving page which they shared on social media in the build-up to the big day.

“As wedding presents are traditionally things that couples need for their new home, Becky and I couldn’t think of anything we needed for the house,” said Tim.

“I saw someone else had done something similar. And we always like doing things for charity, so we thought this would be perfect.

“We were extremely lucky with our wedding day. We were surrounded by friends and family and had beautiful weather with clear blue skies.” So beautiful, in fact, that Tim and his groomsmen managed to sneak in nine holes of golf before the main event.

“Air Ambulance charities are a very valuable asset for the most seriously ill patients in their areas – bringing doctor-led skills and enhanced pain relief to the scene,” explained Tim. “They also have the ability to get patients to hospital quicker than in an ambulance by road.

“If anyone wants to support a very worthwhile cause, then Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is probably one of the best.”

So, if jumping out of a plane isn’t your style, or you wince at the thought of running a mile, there is always a way to raise money for your local life-saving Air Ambulance. As shown by Becky and Tim.
