The keys are handed over and work has officially begun on our new Airbase and HQ.
The move to our new home near Southampton Airport will significantly improve response times to the majority of our missions – saving vital minutes in our critical care.
Since the launch of our Operation Airbase appeal in September 2024, you have helped us raise £1.7 million towards our £3.6 million target – tantalisingly close to the halfway point.
Handing over the keys

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Chair, Becca Brackwell-Slade, handing the keys over to Lewis Bowers of Rosewood Construction Services.
Local contractor, Rosewood Construction Services, has been appointed to carry out the 9-month build, starting immediately.
The 4,273 square metre, two-storey site will feature:
- A hangar to house the helicopter
- A helipad
- Aftercare facilities
- Office space
- On-site crew accommodation
- Training and briefing rooms
- A garage for our fleet of emergency response vehicles.
A dedicated visitor centre which overlooks the helipad will provide a space for our community CPR and AED training.

Richard Corbett, our CEO, said:
“Every step we take towards our goal of moving into our new home is hugely significant – not just for our service but for the thousands of lives that will be impacted each year.
“A huge thank you to everyone whose kindness and generosity has turned this long-held dream for the charity into a reality.”
Lewis Bowers, Rosewood Director, said:
“We are truly honoured and privileged to have been chosen to deliver this project for such an incredible charity. As a long-time contributor — and having a personal connection through a family member who has directly benefited from their services — this project holds deep personal meaning for us.
“We are fully committed to exceeding expectations and delivering something truly exceptional.”
Dr Simon Hughes, our Clinical Lead, said:
“This move will be the single biggest leap forward in our 17-year history. It has long been a dream of our team to operate from a location that is truly central within our community. From day one in our new home, response times will be faster, patient outcomes will be better – and lives will be saved that would otherwise have been lost.”
