Blue Light Card Foundation show support for crew wellbeing

Blue Light Card Foundation has generously granted £10,000 towards our Crew Wellbeing Programme.

Every day our crew attend life-changing incidents that can stay with them long after their shift has ended. Nothing can prepare them for what they might see or feel on scene.

To ensure they each have the mental and physical resilience to face the challenges they do, their wellbeing is of paramount importance.

In 2019, we became the first Air Ambulance charity in the UK to launch a comprehensive online wellbeing programme that takes a proactive approach to enhancing the wellbeing of our crew.

Part of this package is a service which provides confidential psychological assessment, therapy, consultancy, and supervision for members of the team who are struggling with the aftereffects of major trauma and distressing incidents.

This incredible donation from Blue Light Card Foundation will ensure our teams are provided with the support they need for the year ahead.

Here’s what the team said:

“Having access to confidential mental health support has helped me deal with seeing horrendous injuries and incidents, so I can focus on the patients I’m caring for day after day.”

“The care has helped a significant number of our team stay well so they can continue doing the work they love. You never know what is around the corner and how those events will affect us until we experience them. Having the mental health support easily accessible and so responsive is hugely valued by our team. Thank you.”

Blue Light Card Foundation funds projects to support the mental wellbeing of blue light staff including the police, ambulance services, hospital staff and the armed services.

Thank you for your support.
