Southampton Airport smash 12-hour cycle challenge!
Tuesday 23rd October
A Firefighter at Southampton Airport took on a 12-hour static bike ride to raise money for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance on Tuesday (9th October).
Thousands of passengers preparing to jet-set on their holidays got a glimpse of Mark Beaudro pedalling away in the airport lounge and donated pennies into Charity buckets.
Mark was even joined by the Airport mascot, Merlin, and HIOWAA’s Pilot Paws, to motivate him throughout the day! Mark told us:
“I just wanted to do my bit for a worthy cause. After seeing my colleagues do the skydive for HIOWAA last month, I thought ‘I can’t do that’ but I can ride a bike, so that’s why I did it! I’m hoping to raise around £500 for HIOWAA.”
Partnerships Manager for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, Ray Southam, went to cheer him on and commented:
“I was delighted to be able to support Mark. A 12-hour challenge of any kind is hard, but to stay on a static bike in front of so many people certainly made it extra challenging. We’re so grateful to all the staff at Southampton Airport for their continued support and are blown away by their innovative and creative fundraising ideas! Well done Mark and thank you!”
Mark completed his challenge at 6pm having cycled 329 miles and raised a whopping £840!
Congratulations Mark and thank you for your incredible support.
