HIOWAA honours former Trustee Board members
Today we presented former Trustee Robin Beal and former Chairman of Trustees Noel Dobbs with a specially engraved glass bowl in recognition of their services to the Charity. The presentation was made by HIOWAA Chairman of Trustees Sir John Day and will take place outside St Mary’s Hospital.
Emergency Department Consultant at St Mary’s Hospital, Robin Beal was heavily involved in the considerable ground work necessary to set up the Charity in the late 1990s and then became a founding Trustee when the Charity was first registered in 2005.
On July 1st this year we’ll be celebrating ten years to the day since we undertook our first operational flight on July 1st 2007. Noel Dobbs became Chairman of Trustees in September 2015, having served on the HIOWAA board of Trustees since 2008. He was succeeded by Sir John Day in February 2017.
As two of our longest serving board members, Robin and Noel have shown unfailing commitment to HIOWAA. Under their governance the Charity has evolved to the point where today we are one of the leading Air Ambulance Charities in the UK. We owe them both a great deal.
In 2016 over 20% of our missions were to the Isle of Wight. This reinforces the high priority that HIOWAA, and our partner South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, place on providing the best possible support to the Island.
Long term residents of the Isle of Wight, both Robin Beal and Noel Dobbs played an important role in ensuring that the interests of the Isle of Wight community were represented on the HIOWAA Board of Trustees. We currently have a Board of ten Trustees, two of whom are also residents of the Isle of Wight.
