Driver Awareness Training in Hampshire has raised £115,000 for HIOWAA

Hampshire Constabulary’s Driver Awareness Training programme has raised a fantastic £115,000 for HIOWAA since we first became their chosen charity in May 2012.

Driver awareness courses offer drivers who have been charged with committing a road traffic offence an alternative to a fixed penalty and the money has been raised thanks to voluntary contributions from course attendees. During the course, the Hampshire Constabulary Driver Awareness Training Team are able to highlight the service that HIOWAA provides and explain the role that our Critical Care Team plays in saving lives on the road.

Bob Nicholas, Senior Trainer, Driver Awareness Training told us: “We are often shocked by the generosity of those that come on our driver awareness courses.  Sometimes the HIOWAA collection pots are only at a venue for a week before they are full up.  People often donate £20 notes and there have been on occasions when several multiple notes have been donated by the same person. It’s incredible and we’d like to say thank you to all those who’ve contributed.”
