CIM Services have the ultimate pedal power!
Monday 2nd July
CIM Services in Nursling, Southampton certainly don’t shy away from a challenge.
The local manufacturing solutions company set themselves the almighty task of pedalling around the Hampshire border – approximately 265 miles – in 24 hours!
Why? Their offices are just opposite the charity office, so they often see the Critical Care Teams zoom in and out in the Critical Care Team Vehicle and know just how important the Charity is. So when we told them it costs over £9,000 a day to run our service, they wanted to help.
They set another ambitious target – to raise enough to fund one day for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
After months of training rides, the team set off from their offices on Saturday morning (30th June). It was one of the hottest days we’ve had so far this year.
They pedalled fast and had a fantastic support team to aid them along the way. They even managed to make a stop at Thruxton Race Circuit to see the Air Ambulance at 8pm on Saturday night.
Ian Browning, Community Engagement Manager for HIOWAA, went to meet them! He said:
“It was a tough day for them, the heat was exhausting, let alone the challenge! The team were looking pretty fresh after stopping for a bite to eat and HIOWAA Pilot, Marcus Doyle, showed them the Air Ambulance just before they set off again. It was fantastic to have the chance to meet them and thank them for all they were doing for us. We were delighted to cheer them on for the rest of their challenge. So far, they have raised over £6,500 – an incredible amount. It will make such a difference to our Charity.”
They pedalled through the night and made it back to CIM Services HQ in Southampton just before midday on Sunday morning.
Well done to all at CIM Services and thank you so much for your support!
