Volunteering: The Facts

The strength of every charity lies with its volunteers, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is no different. Through the hard work and generosity of our volunteers who give up their time to raise vital funds, and also raise the profile of the charity within the community, we are able to save lives across both counties. Your role as a volunteer will depend greatly on how much time you wish to donate and the skills and experience you can bring to the role. You can volunteer on a regular basis, or less frequently depending on your own commitments. You could help by encouraging community groups to become involved and support the Air Ambulance, or by helping to develop new fundraising initiatives to bring in vital funds.

The Benefits

Being a volunteer with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a fantastic way of helping a local charity which benefits the whole community, and which we all might need one day.No matter your age or circumstances, as long as you are 18 or over, there will be some way in which you can be involved, doing something worthwhile for your Air Ambulance. Whether you are working, on a career break, a student, retired, a parent with young children, we can use your skills. You do not need to have a particular area of expertise, but rather a willingness to help and some time to donate. If you have a professional skill, such as an Accountant, Solicitor or Financial Advisor, your expertise could help save valuable charity funds.Volunteering is a great way to make new friends, and you will be given all the necessary training and support to enable you to feel confident about your volunteering role. You will be reimbursed for reasonable travelling expenses incurred on charity business, and we will ask you for two referees who have known you for two years. All our volunteers will need to have a Criminal Records Bureau check which the charity will arrange.
